Gas Carburizing

Gas Carburizing

This is the most widely used process for surface hardening of steel carried out on low carbon steel which contains 0.1% to 0.25% carbon.

Process is carried out in the temperature range 900-930°C and the surface layer is enriched with carbon up to 0.7-0.9 percent.

Why Gas Carburizing?

  • The surface carbon content as well as the case depth can be accurately controlled.
  • It gives more uniform case depth.
  • It is a much cleaner and more efficient method than pack carburizing.
This process is specially used for low carbon steel which contains 0.1% to 0.25% carbon.

The surface hardness depends on the alloying element of the steel and selected quenching media.

In gas carburizing, treatment time is generally within 2 days. Final timing depends on the desired case depth & size of the steel parts.

We charge based on the weight (kg) of material, however, pricing depends on the maximum number of pieces that can be treated at once. For details, please contact us.
